The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs has partnered with 2U Inc. to support ExecutiveMPA@Syracuse. Founded in 2008 by a team of experienced education and technology experts, 2U partners with leading nonprofit colleges and universities to deliver their high-quality degree programs online.
In addition to Syracuse University, 2U currently works with a number of leading U.S. universities to support their online programs, including the University of Southern California, UC Berkeley, Georgetown University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Northwestern University. 2U supports undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in public administration and other fields, including business, communications, public health, law, and international relations.
As part of our partnership, 2U provides the following services:
Students in the ExecutiveMPA@Syracuse program access a virtual campus for their classes, coursework, and networking. The platform, which is available for most internet-enabled devices, is powered by 2U and features an online classroom that brings students face to face for live class sessions. ExecutiveMPA@Syracuse program faculty members lead program instruction, which is designed with intuitive, familiar features that foster connection and collaboration.
In preparation for live class discussions, students watch content created by Maxwell School faculty in collaboration with 2U content strategists. Together, Maxwell professors and the 2U team develop content that is custom made for the online program, ensuring that all content takes advantage of the latest available technologies. Syracuse faculty members author and deliver all content, while 2U partners produce video content and maintain the technology platforms.
Each course is an interactive learning experience — the content is not simply a series of recorded lectures. Coursework includes video case studies, discussions between professors and students, faculty presentations, and several other interactive elements in which professors can see students' progress and leave comments and feedback in advance of the live class sessions.
The ExecutiveMPA@Syracuse faculty work with 2U to identify and reach the most qualified candidates across the country. 2U's marketing and recruiting efforts support Syracuse's goal of finding students who are most likely to succeed in the online Executive MPA program. 2U also provides an online application and application management system, which ensures a seamless process for applicants and for the Maxwell faculty and staff who review candidates. As with all Syracuse programs, Syracuse faculty review applications for the online program, and the Maxwell School makes all admissions decisions.
Student and Faculty Support
2U prepares faculty to deliver classes and course materials through the online platform so that they are best able to use the tools available in the virtual classroom. 2U also offers orientation to all online students before classes begin. Dedicated support continues throughout the program, with technical support available during every live session.
